UNESCO unveils the outdoor exhibition ‘We are Living Heritage’, a captivating journey through the diversity of intangible cultural heritage across the globe.
The theme ‘We are Living Heritage’ highlights the ever-changing and shared nature of our expressions, practices and knowledge. Intangible cultural heritage is also something we live, breathe, and grow with every day. Our dances, stories, crafts, sports, foodways, arts and festivals… these are all reflections of the generations that came before us and connect us to the generations that follow.
This exhibition encourages us to safeguard our cultural heritage and to share it with the world.
20th anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage
This year’s anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, adopted in 2003, has inspired celebrations around the world. It also propelled reflections on the role of the Convention in protecting the richness of intangible cultural heritage. UNESCO, together with its partners, renews its commitment to promoting living heritage as a driver for sustainable development and peace.
UNESCO wishes to thank all partners and Member States for their contribution to this exhibition.
