APCEIU will co-organize the 2nd Youth Leadership Workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) with the UN Secretary General’s Global Education First Initiative (GEFI) from 11 to 16 July 2016 at the Busan University of Foreign Studies in Busan, Republic of Korea. For this event, Busan University of Foreign Studies and Geumjeong District of Busan Metropolitan City will contribute as cooperation partners. The workshop aims to build the capacity of dynamic young leaders from across the world to lead and advocate for GCED.

From 25 to 27 April 2016, Baku, Azerbaijan will host the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC): “Living Together in Inclusive Societies: A Challenge and A Goal”. In view of helping countries prevent violent extremism through education, UNESCO is developing Technical Guidance to help policy makers within ministries of education. The Guidance will help prioritize, plan and implement effective and appropriate education-related actions that can contribute to national efforts to prevent violent extremism.

The UNESCO Office for the Maghreb (based in Rabat, Morroco) and the Ministry of Culture and Crafts in Mauritania jointly organize the official launching of the Manual for Citizenship and Human Rights Education for Youth in Mauritania, on 19 and 20 January 2016 in Nouakchott (Mauritania). The event will provide opportunity to exchange with different actors on challenges of human rights and citizenship education in Mauritania today, and on the prospects for further use of the Manual through the training of trainers.
