On World Refugee Day on 20 June 2025, UNESCO is hosting a webinar from 3-5.30pm CET to explore how education systems can better recognize the qualifications and skills of refugees and displaced people. The session will focus on practical solutions to support access to higher education and improve inclusion and opportunity.
Advancing recognition for refugees is directly linked to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 – ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning for all.
Despite global efforts, only 7% of refugees currently have access to higher education, compared to a global average of 43%. This webinar will bring together policymakers, educators, recognition experts, donors, and refugee voices to discuss tools, policies, and collaborations that can help close this gap.

The webinar will include contributions from UNESCO Qualifications Passport Holders, UNHCR in Zambia, University of Pennsylvania, University of Oslo, Zambia Qualifications Authority, World Bank, and Norway’s Ministry of Education.
